Rogue Planet: Demo 4
A downloadable game
This is Rogue Planet: Demo 4
A standalone expansion to the original Steam game, set 2 years after the original. The climactic finale and final chapter of the first game taking place during the end of the world in 2012. Rogue Planet: Consolidation is a solo developed dreamlike FPS game made by 3ofSpades over the course of 6 years. It takes influences from LucasArts' games in their later years and late generation Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 games.
It is designed to push the GameGuru Engine to its limits with beautiful Graphics and satisfying Gameplay systems, while being accessible to lower end systems and taking minimal storage space.
The Story:
Now that you've awoken from the events of the original, you return to the places you once explored in your dreams to find answers.
Taking a job to repair a radar array leads to the place of origin to everything, as the truth of what happened in Santa Fe 2 years ago is finally beginning to unravel. Your interpretation of the truth will affect the world around you, and more importantly, the people living in it.
Be careful. Imaginations can be powerful things...
Do you think you can bring yourself to find the real truth one last time? No choice without a consequence, no consequence without a step taken. With every step you take, there is a price to pay.
How far will you go to save yourself?

Known Issues:
-On AMD GPUs, many models may have an obscenely bright white glow. No known cause or fix as this is an engine wide issue to my knowledge, however, setting entity shading in the realtime graphics menu or the graphics preset to lowest will prevent this from happening.
-For some reason, Markus has become about 10x as scary as he was in Demo 3. So During Lumbermill Investigation, the Torched will run away or hide in the corner instead of attacking him on sight. They're probably going to get tacos, and I'm not going to stop them. 50/50 on fixing this myself since I actually intended for them to do that but couldn't get it working properly in Demo 3. Hopefully they bring me a churro.
-In the Evil Path level: Revelation, a cutscene trigger for an easter egg song has been causing crashes. Needless to say, that cutscene is going bye-bye in this version, so I'll keep you posted if it'll work in the final game. You can probably walk around it and still do the easter egg if you want to break out of the map a little.
-The fullscreen mode will take full control of your mouse like a PS2 era console port. So that makes alt-tabbing basically a 50/50 shot to crash your game if you have any other apps open in the background on the same monitor for any reason. Make sure any background apps are closed so GameGuru doesn't play any games with memory leaks. It especially does not agree with overlays. Speaking of.
-The game is prone to issues when background apps are open. Mostly crashes and lots of lag. The game is especially buggy when Steam is open in the background. Since this is a standalone demo on itch, and the game produces Steam appid files upon starting itself automatically, what basically happens is Steam looks for a file that doesn't exist and that makes it confused because it can't find the associated appid, so it crashes the game in its confusion to avoid any kind of danger. Discord overlay and most apps don't agree, especially GameGuru. Actually most overlays and apps don't agree with GameGuru, so it's best to keep them closed while you play the game to avoid any issues.
-Loading screens are extremely unstable and constantly prone to crashing. When the game loads, don't touch the computer to ensure the game doesn't crash. Don't alt-tab, don't press any buttons, and don't move or click the mouse. As far as I know, the loading screens are held together with 2 toothpicks and a stick of gum. Just so you know what we're dealing with here.
-Some typos in the ending level credits and a few other levels having misnamed weapons, scripts, and item text too. Such as my last name having an incorrect initial, the wonders of working late to get this out.
Will fix them later, I'm getting a churro. Have fun with the game!

Install instructions
Itch Hosted:
Download Demo 4 Parts 1 and 2.
Once downloaded, unzip the Part 1 and 2. Then take the Part 2 folder named "videobank" and place it into the "Files" folder in the game's directory. Kind of janky, but I'm not using butler.
Should help if you have slower download speeds. Both parts required to play properly.
Google Drive:
Download Demo 4.7z and unpack. If warned about virus scans, click "Download anyways." Rest assured I don't care about what's on your pc, and I don't want it. So I did not make a virus. This is a video game. Google drive is where I hosted it.
It is all in one with no split parts, however, drive link will not be up forever. So it's up to you which you prefer. Will be taken down after final game release due to storage limits. However, itch parts will remain for archival unless the site stops existing.
You will need 7zip to unpack the game either way, as it has been heavily compressed into a .7z format to shrink the download size.
You can download 7zip at https://www.7-zip.org/ if you don't have it. Since the game is 64-bit, download the x64 version. (That also means you should have a 64-bit pc.) Sorry windows 95.
If the game does not run for whatever reason, and you cannot fix it by lowering settings, try using this guide to troubleshoot:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2903827013
There is also an in-game graphics menu you can use to adjust the visuals to get a playable frame rate or to crank it up. You can activate it by pressing TAB once to see your FPS and Metrics, then again to pull up the entire menu, where you can adjust it as needed.
To close the menu, press TAB once again. You may use it at any time.
The full game size should be around 9GB uncompressed, so you might see why I needed to shrink it. That's a lot of data.
Level Backups Guide:
If you wish to use the backups to load other levels in the game in the main menu, you will need to go to the backups folder located in "Files/savegames/backups" of the game's directory.
From there, you will find a list of saved games in three folders:
Prologue, Good Path, and Evil Path.
Each slot in these folders will contain backups to allow you to load into their respective levels. Going in an order of slot4 to 8, accounting for the prologue, which has the first 3 slots assigned to it.
Ensure the slot you wish to use has nothing you deem worth losing, and do a copy paste into the savegames directory. If you need to recover your save slot, that's why I made backups. (Feel free to make some too. Although your mileage may vary.)
Start the game and you should be able to load into the level backup you desire. They will be labeled with the level names for your convenience in the main menu.
HD Shaders with HDR Guide:
If you wish to use the HD Shaders with HDR, you will need to install it by doing the following:
Download the Preset, then place it into the game's directory.
Once in game, press the home key on your keyboard. Then you will see the reshade menu on your left.
Once there, you will click the top where it says Reshade Preset, and scroll through the list of files.
Click the HD Shader Preset, then it will work.
If it doesn't, search for "Blooming_HDR" and enable it by checking the box next to it. This will enable the HDR effect.
If you want to also enable to HD Shaders, search for "DELC_Sharpen" and enable it as well.
If you find the bloom added to be too intense, search for "Clarity" and enable it.
If you want to customize the system more in-depth, untick the performance mode box in the bottom right to adjust everything as needed. To ensure better performance, tick it back on, and you should be good to go.
Feel free to make your own presets too, reshade is a pretty open system, so you could make my game look almost any way you please.
If you get any DirectX or Visual Studio Errors, try downloading and installing both of these all in one packages, as the cause could be missing runtimes that GameGuru uses as dependencies (rest assured these are perfectly safe parts of Windows that will not cause any issues and that most games use):
DirectX All in One Installer (Official Microsoft Download): https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
Visual Studio All in One Installer (MajorGeeks Download because Microsoft doesn't have one for Visual Studio apparently):
